Recently, most of my friends around me have started researching more about anti-aging and what products are worth trying. Of course, there is still a budget we have to keep to since we are not big earners.
One thing I often have to keep in mind before I try out all these new products is to not use anything outside your age range. There are times when I tend to fall for marketing gimmicks and end up buying something suited for say, those in their 30s and 40s.
Some may ask, why start so early?
Simply because it is much easier to prevent aging now rather then trying to salvage it when it starts. Those fine lines are really hard to fight once they are out.
My skin condition has been changing for the past year and I think it is most probably due to the hormones imbalance. From someone who never used to have much breakout since the teenage years, to one who has monthly acne breakouts. My scar healing process has also significantly decreased from one week to a few months.
Apart from slapping on products every day and night, I have also been trying to do more things to ensure a healthy lifestyle. Not sure if I am doing it right, but well most of my friends say I look fresher and more radiant than a year back. So I am sticking to it.
Get enough sleep: 7 -8 hours each night.
I have been forcing myself to lie in bed with a good read before 12am, so that i have lazed enough to sleep by 1230am. I have been trying to avoid playing Candy Crush Saga late at night by using up all my lives before 11pm. It is not that I am addicted to it, but it's kind of like the only game in my phone I am playing now heh heh.
Manage stress and learn to relax
I
was previously working in a pretty stressful environment and did not
know how to handle it well enough. It was when my hair loss issue
started and I was really upset over the thinning hairline. Not to forget
the tired looking eyes with the dull skin complexion. Everyone thought i
was at least 3 years older than what I really was. It was pretty much a
setback to my confidence. Well, I am still trying to prevent further
hair loss and grow some hair in the meantime. I have been using
Shiseido's Professional Adenovital Scalp Essence for the past two
months. Waiting for the third month to see the results of it and I will
review about this soon.
Restrict fast food to once a month if possible.
This is really hard for me, a huge junk food lover - i love all kind of chips, biscuits, chocolates and anything bathed in MSG. Thankfully, my mum has trained me to somewhat detest the taste of excessive fats and oil. Hence, limiting fast food and fried stuff has been pretty much a breeze despite the occasional cravings. My fear in further hair loss has also curbed my MSG intake and I no longer the tasty instant mee soup
Choose the healthier option
I only do it when there are no particular food cravings. (i.e. ban mian over char kway teow)
Exercise regularly
My new year resolution is to exercise 2-3 times a week. Anything more is a bonus for the lazy me.
I am currently doing selective workouts from Shaun T's Insanity Workout as well as running. I don't follow up the schedule of his workouts because I am not trying to achieve those hot bods, but just trying to keep fit. (okay who am i to kid myself? I will love to have those abs and toned arms on me, but i am just not that mentally strong to do it everyday)
Exercise is also known to help stimulate hair growth, which i need very much thank you.
Keep my itchy fingers away from my face
The amount of germs on our hands are likely to lead to breakouts and I like to believe I have less pimples because of this.
All these apart, I am itching to try Laneige's Perfect Renew range soon. My newly bought SKII treatment essence does not seem to perform miracles on my skin, but it delights me to find out that the signature eye cream does not give me those hideously looking oil bumps.
