I mentioned in my previous blogpost about anti hair loss shampoo and boy was it a struggle on deciding what to use. Let me share with everyone my journey since i discovered my hair loss.
I have previously resorted to using 2% Minioxidil, but stopped immediately after knowing that you have to use it all the way so that the hair grown from the usage of Minioxidil will not fall off. Such dependency on a medication turns me off and I knew I have to seek other alternatives even if it means poorer results.
My sister chanced about Avalon Organics Biotin B-Complex Therapy Thickening Shampoo and Conditioner after reading some positive reviews on iHerb.com.We decided to give it a try despite it not being fully organic. It was cheap for an anti hair loss shampoo and hence, there was no harm trying out.
Products under Avalon Organics are said to contain 70% organic content,
100% vegetarian ingredients, and are formulated with no parabens, harsh
preservatives, synthetic colors or fragrances, phthalates or harmful
sulfates.
The product tends to dry out the scalp abit, which is good for oily scalp. But it also makes my hair very dry and lack lustre. Nonetheless, it does its job of preventing hair loss as I did notice less hair falling out.
While the current one seems to be doing its job in preventing further hair loss, it was not stimulating hair growth like what I need. My scalp looks pathetic from the top view and I delete away any photos that have signs of me balding. Yes, my confidence level has definitely been affected and it is time I make another change.
My recent purchase is this DS Laboratories Revita High Performance Hair Growth Stimulating Shampoo (around USD21 for 180ml) after reading reviews online.
- Contains copper peptides, which may improve absorption of ingredients
- Contains apple polyphenol, which may improve circulation in the scalp
- Contains MSM, amino acids and biotin
- Contains emu oil, which contains nutrients and may help nutrient absorption
- Contains ketoconazole which kills a common scalp fungi and may stimulate hair growth
- Contains caffeine and carnitine tartrate, which may increase cell energy in scalp, increasing hair growth
- Contains anti-oxidants, which may help protect cells from free radicals
I have been using it for about 2 weeks now, and the texture is much thicker and gooey as compared to Avalon's. I do feel that it does not dry out my hair as much which is good! Will update on the effectiveness of this shampoo and the conditioner a few weeks down to road.
** UPDATE as of 11 Jul 2014: Not much improvement seen and I am alternating between a couple of shampoos now**
